things that were different for me

OK, basicly I felt disappointed. I imagined that Macedonia will be soooo different from Poland in terms of everything, but it appeared to be guite simmilar to my country. However... there were some things that surprised me totally... 1) French fries for dinner. In the venue where the conference took place the meals were all the time the same, but that was ok for me. But I was really amazed how come dinner is much more heavy than lunch? It was really difficult to eat french fries and meat with cabbage salat so late, as for me this type of meal was typical lunch meal. 2) Smoking everywhere. Before the Opening Plenary i entered the room. It was huge, and it was used for many porpouses- party room, plenary room and dining room. What was a surprise for me to see people smoking cigarettes in planary part! It was the first conference for me when it was allowed to smoke inside the building. But- if people see ash trays in the building- that is a sign that you can smoke. The same was in the bus on the way back to Skopje... But I talked about it a little bit. It seems that many people smoke here, but Macedonians know, that the number is too high. Yes! Give up smoking! At least in public places! I keep my fingrers crossed for you! 3) Traffic lights Oh- I had to get use to the fact, that crossing on the red light is (unofficially) allowed. Well, at least I was more careful while crossing the street :-) Think these were the most surprising things for me.
