long time, no see
It's been a while, huh?
Well, I was busy... as always.
Basically, when I arrived to Skopje, for 3 days I still confused(after what happened in Poland), but very happy.Especially to see my boys- Ravin and Titel. Then the depression came... I realized that I had been away from Macedonia over a month and during this time nothing happened! I had the feeling that the organization did not move any step further from the point I left it in December. But this is not all. What hit me was the fact, that it's been half of my term, in middle of January we have elections of our successors, and my results (in People Development) are misurable. And whenever I want to change something, I want to give something to AIESEC Macedonia, there is still some amount of resistance. And it's not any more about trusting me and my ideas- I think I managed to overcome this bareer already. Now the problem is different. AIESEC here is not the AIESEC that I knew- where people were not going for lectures, spending the time in @office, working and having fun at the time. How is this possible that people don't want to go to EB? In the capital city, where last year there were 12 candidates! I also don't want to mention MC, where there was only 1 macedonian candidate for MCVP. SHAME on you AIESEC Macedonia! The more I think about the problem, the more I'm convinced that the cause is the following: lack of ownership. People just don't feel responsible for the organization. They do not love it any more as they used to, they are not able to sacrifice their time and invest money in their own development.
Here I question myself... do we really provide the quality experience in AIESEC?And if not- who is responsible for it? Management body or each and every individual? Hmmm... as MCVP I am responsible for other people, but also I am a smart and self aware person, and I am responsible also for myself. This means that if my boss is not paying enough attention to my development, I should proactivly take the things in my own hands, isn't it? So why do people don't think same as I do? What should I do to open their eyes? Ah, how much more AIESEC would be beneficial for indovidual, if all the processes were results oriented. Then whatever you do- you plan and you set measurement. There is no way that you will be working like a dog, but with a low performance. Actually the topic of effectivness is very interesting for me recently, but that's another story.
Now something about my life. I am back on jumping classes again. I missed some of them (elections and so on) but i'm trying to plan my week the way, so that I can go 3 times a week as it was ment to be
Last week I have been to a party. It was organized at home in my neighbourhood, we wereinvoted by polish girl living in Skopje- Basia is from Nowy Sacz and was working in AIESEC there by the way! So just imagine, that at this party there were at least 20 internationals- and no @cers =)! It was such a surprise, coz I started believeing at one point, that me, Ravin and Titel are the only foreigners in this city! But after the party i have another conclusion-we just don't go to the places, where we can meet internationals. But that will change!
Speaking of changes. Since we have cool internet connection in the Chamber of Commerce office, we have the change to get some movies. So these days there was at least 1 movie being watched after work. Guys are really masters of film- sessions. They can ever watch 3 movies in the row! I don't have so much time for that, since it's time to finalize the master thesis... eh, don't feel like writing about that.
We also found out that we can play pool/ bilard or table tennis in the city center. We have to find another place, coz it was really expensive for such quality low of place (the game was cool though)
When I write about money, that reminds me of something else. Ravin and Titel found out a student dorm eating place- a really cheap one, and with home made food. The bad part is that the place stinks like hell when you enter, but then you get used to it. Once you get the food, the place does not seem to be so smelly any more and you can enjoy your meal. Apart from the smell there is also something else very characteristic about the place. Well, you pay for the food with coupons. Of course first you buy the coupons, but when you make yor order, then denars are not involved any more. The coupons look just same like money you have in Monopolly- I and sure that everybody had played that board game at least once in life. So when we are in the office- we usually go for food to student dorm, and feel like playing monopolly. It is said that the money come from Jugoslavia times. Hmmm, might be!

Maybe you should change something if things are not working out.
change the approach, change the people, change the roles in the team so it will start working.
my opinion, most of all you should change the attitude. it shouldnt be, shame on you AIESEC Macedonia. cause you are part of AIESEC Macedonia too. where do you think that lack of ownership comes form?
take care
Darko
Your article is very informative and helped me further.

well, that's true actually!
I also see that it is not only in Macedonia, but in many more countries... Maybe we are more lost than it was expected after setting new clear 2010 directions?
